There’s something magical about peony season. These lush, romantic flowers are beloved for their ruffled petals, soft fragrance, and dreamy colour palette. Whether you’re a flower enthusiast or just love having fresh blooms at home, peonies are a true seasonal showstopper—and they’ve finally arrived!
Why We Love Peonies...Peonies are often seen as the queen of spring flowers, and with good reason. Their large, soft blooms can range from delicate blush pinks and pure whites to bold corals and rich magentas. They make a beautiful statement on their own or as part of a mixed bouquet.
The Meaning Behind the Petals...Peonies have been cherished for centuries not just for their beauty, but for their symbolism. In flower language, peonies represent:💗 Romance and love 💗 Prosperity and good fortune 💗 Compassion and honour 💗 Healing and bashful beauty
In fact, in many cultures, peonies are considered lucky flowers—often used in weddings, anniversaries, and new beginnings. Giving someone peonies is a heartfelt gesture of well wishes and affection.
Short Season, Big Impact...Peony season is fleeting, usually running from late April through June—so it’s a real treat while it lasts. Their limited availability makes them extra special, and it’s one of the reasons people get so excited when they come into bloom.

Perfect for Every Occasion...
From elegant wedding arrangements to simple bunches in a vase, peonies bring charm and elegance to any space.
They’re ideal for:
🌿 Spring birthdays
🌿 Anniversary gestures
🌿 Thank-you gifts
🌿 Home decor refreshes
🌿 Wedding flowers (a true bridal favourite!)
Our Favourite Pairings... While peonies are stunning on their own, we love to pair them with:
Soft roses for a classic romantic look
Delphinium or lisianthus for a touch of whimsy
Eucalyptus or seasonal greenery for texture and contrast
Top Tip:
Peonies start as tight buds and bloom into large, fluffy flowers—so don’t worry if they seem small at first. Keep them cool, change their water daily, and give them a little time to open up. Watching them unfurl is half the joy!
Why Are Peonies More Expensive?... You might notice peonies cost a little more than other flowers—and there’s a good reason why. Peonies are seasonal blooms with a very short window of availability (just a few weeks in spring), and that fleeting nature makes them highly sought after.
They’re also grown in specific climates and require careful handling from field to florist. Right now, we’re buying peonies at around £1.50 - £2 per stem (plus VAT)!!!—and once we factor in careful conditioning, design time, packaging, and delivery, the final bouquet price reflects not just the flower, but the full experience.
They're Divas!
